On May 12, 2007, tens of thousands of people around the world celebrated World Fair Trade Day. This year’s theme, “Kids Need Fair Trade”, focused on how fair trade improves the lives of children in producer countries – and how our children can participate in fair trade at home.

World Fair Trade Day

The Fair Trade Resource Network is the national coordinator of World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) in the US, with support from its partners in the fair trade community nationwide. Using FTRN’s resources and online WFTD calendar, local organizers posted information for 77 events around North America, inviting the thousands of visitors who came to these WFTD pages to participate in this international celebration.

2007’s WFTD festivities included concerts, drum circles, poetry readings, fashion shows, soccer games, and many other celebrations. Depicted below is the Bay Area Fair Trade Coalition who hosted an event in Delores Park, California.

Many of this years events focused on this year’s theme, “Kids Need Fair Trade”. Below is the winning submission to Transfair USA’s children’s art contest by Tucker Corry of Brattleboro, VT.
